Is Heaven like a summer vacation?

There wan interesting piece on the ChristianPost.com about what people think paradise will be like when they die and go to Heaven.

When I was a kid, I thought I'd be able to drive race cars and fight super villains in Heaven and have Christmas Days that lasted a thousand years.

I imagined camping on mountains and traveling to other planets. I thought Heaven was all fun and games.

Then, I began to read the Bible and study what was written about Heaven and realized Heaven will be about worship and praise. Also, I believe God has plans for us once we are in Heaven.

No matter what happens, we will feel so much love and joy I can't explain it because I haven't experienced it yet.

What are your thoughts on Heaven?

Southern Baptist Convention appoints first black president

Fred Luter has become the first black president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

AMEN!

I have nothing to do with SBC and I am not a Baptist, but I find news of people breaking down color barriers awesome.

I hate racism. I hate bigotry. I hate when people use someone's race or gender as a measuring stick.

I don't like the term "race" when referring to people because we are all in the same "race" - the human race, but it is the word we are straddled with.

I understand some ethnic groups have common characteristics and people in the same social-economic groups (regardless of color) will act similarly, but there is no reason to judge people by skin color or economic factors or geographic location.

I have had conversations with people who say they get upset when white people have children with non-whites. They want to maintain a white "race."

I honestly don't care. It would not bother me one bit if every person on the planet chose to marry and have children with someone of a different color.

I have this attitude because of Jesus.

Jesus came to Earth and put Himself on the Cross for ALL people. Not just Anglo or Africans or Chinese people or Koreans or whatever other ethnicity you can think of.

Jesus loves us all so much He took our sin and paid the price for it.

If He would do that, for people of all colors, how dare anyone - and myself for that matter - judge anyone by the color of their skin.

Where have all the Christian men gone?

For years, I have heard sermons, read articles and listened to Christian talk radio hosts talk about how Christian men are missing from the church.

Many who have commented on the issue said women seem to be taking bigger and bigger roles in the church because the men are simply not going to church as much and the ones who do are not getting very involved.

I've heard of churches holding men-oriented events like steak dinners, camping retreats and bowling outings to bring men into the church. I've even heard of churches resort to playing hard rock music and decorating their buildings like hunting cabins to make church seem more "manly."

ChristianPost.com has an interesting article on the issue.

The ultimate Father; Happy Father's Day

Father's Day is a time to remember dads.

I am fortunate that my father is a great one. I have fond memories of hanging out with him, the family vacations he'd take us on and the way he'd offer "all the change in his pocket" to make popcorn.

Pastor Terry Jones hangs President Obama in effigy

Seriously? Why do Christians seem to go out of there way to make us all look like hateful idiots?

TheChristianPost.com reported Pastor Terry Jones from Gainseville, Florida is under investigation by the FBI for hanging a President Obama effigy.

Jones was made infamous by his burning of the Quran last year and his attempt to march in front of a mosque in Dearborn, Michigan.
