I was cruising through the Internet looking for Christian blogs and websites about Jesus and was stunned to see how many people on the web have no problem promoting blasphemy toward God.
It's pretty disgusting. But. not unexpected.
Society has been trying to remove God for decades and as He is pushed further and further away, people will become more emboldened to mock God.
Look at what is happening in our schools. Kids are taught we evolved from a a singled-cell creature that somehow became every living thing on Earth. They are told we are a cosmic accident. We are no better than animals and survival of the fittest is nature's way. They are taught their is no authority.
We can no longer teach morals, unless those "morals" are anti-God. I always wondered if morals evolved with man. If not, why do atheists bother with them. Actually, if we went by the secular humanist code, we should be throwing animals in jail for killing each other or not throw people in jail for killing because it is a natural instinct. It seems unfair people are punished for what they evolved into and not animals and we are all the same, according to them.
We are at the point where kids are not allowed to pray in school, which is violation of their rights, but they are allowed to read books saying "Jimmy has two mommies" and that is ok. And anyone who dares to say that is morally wrong they are crucified as a bigot.
Society has gotten away from a fear of God. I am reading "The Holiness of God" by RC Sproul and am overwhelmed by how I don't always see God as perfect and holy and how my unholiness deserves death. (Thank you Jesus for redeeming me.)
Most people don't see that today. They think "God is love" or "God has a sense of humor so I can make fun of Him." no one thinks there are consequences for their actions.
Galatians 6:7 -8states: 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. (NIV)
Not only the people who openly mock Jesus will be judged, but those professing Christ but brutalize the Gospel into something horrible.
I know Joel Osteen is popular and he claims to be a pastor, but he is more of a motivational speaker. His sermons are usually about money and getting increase through your faith. A few years ago, I watched a sermon he gave on Ruth and how her faith in God enabled her to marry Boaz and become rich.
Osteen left out the most important thing about Ruth: Her faith allowed her to be an ancestor of Jesus.
And Osteen's wavering on the Gospel has become legendary. Each time he backs down from Jesus as the only Savior, it is as bad as those who openly mock the Lord with silly cartoons and ridiculous books and stories about Jesus being a homosexual or the father of Mary Magdalene's kids.
Osteen claims he is a preacher and James 3:1-2 states: 1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. (NIV)
We need to start taking God and holiness seriously. Will He pour out wrath on America like He did on disobedient nations in the Old Testament? i don't know. But, I do know one day we will all stand before God and we will be judged for what we did on Earth, including our attitude toward him.
