Yes, an apology was ok for Quran burning

So many people have been upset with President Obama for apologizing because the U.S. military accidentally burned the Quran.

I don't care that the president apologized but I don't think he needed to. The leaders responsible should have made an apology and that should have been it.

The United States has military personnel in several Muslim nations so we need to considerate of their religion. However, I wish the president would be more condemning of the Muslim protestors that have been violent over this incident, but President Obama has never been quick to be critical of any nation except the United States.

Many people have a problem with the president apologizing because he doesn't seem to be worried when he offends Christians. When Obama was running for president, he criticized people for cling to guns and religion. By he religion, he meant Christianity.

Could you imagine President Obama coming out and saying the people in Afghanistan are clinging to "Islam?" Never would happen.

While I think an apology was fine in this situation, the president has opened himself up to criticism because   he has never painted himself as a friend of Christians. So, the blowback from the Right will always be big when President Obama goes out of his way to make nice with other religions.

If the military accidentally burned Bibles, I wouldn't expect an apology because no one seems to mind if Christians are upset, but if one was offered by the president, I would been fine with it. I also know the people criticizing the president for apologizing about the Quran burning would be fine with an apology fr a Bible burning.
